Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the best mold material ?
A: Generally would say aluminum.  Aluminum holds up well to the heat and is nearly indestructible.  Although we use a lot of wood for molds too.  Wood is good for small production runs, prototypes, parts that might change, etc.  Fiberglass also make good molds.  Size, shape, form, and material has a lot to do with choosing the mold material.

Q: How hot does the plastic need to be to form a part ?
A: We consider this proprietary information.  This is part of the process of vacuum forming.  We also don't give out mold temperatures, dwell time, vacuum pressure, cooling times, stretch factors, shrink factors to name a few items that make vacuum forming successful
